Your work will mostly be delivered individually within clinics in GP surgeries in various parts of Cardiff and the Vale.
Do you have an interest in Food, Nutrition and supporting healthier lifestyles? Do you want to be part of a programme that supports, motivates, empowers and inspires adults to make lifestyle changes?

Working as part of our Community Dietetic Team within Cardiff & Vale UHB, you’ll be assisting and leading the delivery of the all Wales Diabetes Prevention programme for adults identified as being at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes within Cardiff.

We have four posts available, which are fixed term until either March 2025 or March 2026, due to different funding streams. There is potential that this funding will be extended beyond this time period, but the initial job offer will be for a fixed term contract.

Your work will mostly be delivered individually within clinics in GP surgeries in various parts of Cardiff and the Vale. There may also be the opportunity for some group based intervention. During these sessions, you’ll be engaging, educating and helping people to plan some small interventions to their daily lives. This isn’t about telling people what to eat

and do, it’s more about building rapport to help them set some realistic, personal goals and signpost to local services to help reduce their risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

The dietetic service has excellent links with the local public health team, local authority and third sector organisations. You will work closely with the teams within the GP practices and will need to be enthusiastic, a good communicator and able to work both independently as well as be a fantastic team player.
