As a deputy sister/charge nurse you will be responsible for supporting your juniors, the ward sister, student nurses and the team on shift. The position as a deputy sister/ charge nurse is to be a role model and guide junior team. You will be supporting the flow of patients and ensuring patient safety is maintained.
A deputy sister/charge nurse on T7 South Women's health will work closely with the bed manager to assign beds, assist with complex patient care, and challenging discharges. The role will entail being in charge and this will mean escalating to the ward sister/charge nurse of staff calling sick and allocating for the next shift.
You will also work closely with the ward sister in roster management, managing incidences and covering the sister when on leave.
This vacancy has been advertised in accordance with the new NHS pay rate which will take effect from autumn 2024. Please note if your employment starts before the 24/25 pay scales are implemented you will be paid under the 23/24 pay scales and any backpay will be adjusted accordingly. The position requires a high standard of professionalism and support. As a deputy sister/charge nurse you are the leader for the ward and it's your role to ensure all staff are supported appropriately. A deputy sister/charge nurse will de-escalate confrontation on the ward and ensure patient safety if maintained.
When covering the ward sister/ charge nurse you will be expected to manage the ward with staffing, dealing with concerns, roster management and sickness. During the role you will be managing incidences and investigating the concerns and carrying out an RCA meeting.
