Clinical
To provide a high quality of patient/client care in conjunction with GPs & Nurses within the prescribed limits of the Phlebotomist role.
Provide information, advice and support to patients face to face within prescribed limits.
Be involved in team discussions to ensure best practice
Main Duties
General phlebotomy duties, ie: venepuncture.
Monitoring equipment, laboratory forms etc.
Monitoring of standards of hygiene and safety of equipment.
Act as chaperone if required.
Referral of patients to Doctor/Nurse where necessary.
Organisational
To maintain accurate records and data on Treatment Room activities.
To be aware of the Quality and Outcomes Framework (QoF) and record consultations as appropriate.
Education and Research
To take responsibility for own professional development, undertake required training and attend staff meetings.
Participate in the development and implementation of standards and audit activities.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Phlebotomist to join our friendly and supportive nursing team.
We are looking to recruit for 12 hours over a Thursday & Friday.
The successful candidate will likely have a certificate of competence in phlebotomy, experience of working in a clinical setting and good I.T. skills. They will also have the determination to provide the best possible care to patients in an empathetic way and have a flexible approach to work. Being comfortable working in a busy environment and good interpersonal skill are essential.

Job responsibilities include
Provide an efficient and caring phlebotomy service to all patient groups, in accordance with agreed operational policies and procedures.
Collect blood samples from all patient groups including children and the elderly using venepuncture in accordance with standard procedures.
Ensure all blood sample bottles are accurately labelled.
Ensure all samples are packaged and despatched in accordance with Practice procedures and protocols.
Be aware of the clinical conditions and precautions necessary for sample quality to be maintained during the procedure.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
Accurately update patient information on the clinical system.
Perform administrative tasks, as required.
