This is an exceptional career opportunity for an experienced, high calibre pharmacist looking to further advance their career and develop leadership, clinical and prescribing skills within Unplanned Care - Emergency Department (ED) at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will need to be flexible and organised, be able to align their values with those of the organisation, work well within a team and have a 'can do' positive attitude.
The Pharmacy Service at St George's is highly regarded across the Trust, with over 250 staff members working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. The department is friendly, forward thinking and constantly expanding with opportunities for personal and service development including further postgraduate education.
We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic senior pharmacist to make a difference and ensure the best outcomes for patients accessing emergency services within the Trust. The post holder will work to ensure the continued provision and development of high quality, comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to patients as well as influence senior managers and clinicians within the Emergency Medicine Division. We will provide the successful candidate with a comprehensive induction covering all aspects of Trust work, support from senior pharmacy staff and an environment to develop further.
Act as a Lead Pharmacist for the ED including non-medical prescriber services.
Deputise for the Team Leader and represent the team within the organisation and across interface boundaries.
Work as an expert pharmacist for the ED, contributing to advanced decision making.
In conjunction with the Team Leader, manage and implement services designed to improve the pharmaceutical care to patients and extend the boundaries of clinical practice.
Identify and support the facilitation of CIPs within the relevant directorate and participate in financial reporting and drug budget management.
Progress service improvement initiatives through multi-disciplinary working to ensure safe and timely provision of medicines.
To participate in clinical audit and research, risk management and clinical guideline development.
The successful applicant will enjoy working in a busy challenging environment, be able to manage multiple priorities and deliver against tight deadlines. You will have good communication skills and be an enthusiastic educator. The ability to work autonomously and with a high level of accountability is essential. You should possess a postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or equivalent and have the relevant hospital pharmacy experience. Experience of working and influencing in a multi-disciplinary team and a non-medical prescribing qualification or working towards it would be an advantage.
