Due to internal progression and a recent restructure in the Pharmacy department we are looking for three enthusiastic and driven Band 6 Rotational Clinical Pharmacists.
Our Pharmacy department has a strong clinical presence in all areas. We have an establishment of over 100 members and enjoy an excellent reputation within the Trust where we provide patient-centred clinical Pharmacy services to some 400 beds including pharmacist-led clinics. We are an innovative and forward-thinking department who over recent years has invested in a host of technical improvements, including robotics and state of the art dispensaries and technical services. The department is friendly, forward thinking and constantly expanding. This is an exciting time to be joining the team as electronic prescribing has recently been implemented and we are using Quality Improvement (QI) methodology to reprofile and optimise all aspects of pharmacy service, and we welcome innovation and ideas around doing things differently.
We will support you with an in-house training program and you will be offered the opportunity to undertake a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy as well as encouraged to obtain a formal qualification as a Pharmacist Prescriber.
Our highly respected and well embedded clinical pharmacy service with ward-based Clinical Pharmacists and Medicines Management Technicians will ensure that you have maximal patient contact with a minimal supply role.
As a Rotational Clinical Pharmacist, you will gain experience in a wide range of hospital pharmacy, and will be integral to providing a clinical pharmacy service to our core wards on a rotational basis.
You will have regular meetings with the Lead Pharmacist for each speciality in order to facilitate learning objectives and to provide clinical support where needed.
Clinical rotations will include:
- Cardiology
- Respiratory
- Care of the Elderly
- Gastroenterology / Endocrinology
- General Surgery
- Orthopaedics
During the second year of the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy, you will have the opportunity to undertake a rotation within our Aseptics service, alongside getting the opportunity to experience speciality roles, including haemato-oncology, critical care, paediatrics (including neonates) as well as a rotation within the Pharmacist-led Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) and Anticoagulation clinics.
We welcome applications from registered or soon to be registered pharmacists.
You should be an excellent communicator with the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team. Previous hospital experience is not essential.
