Clinical Nurse Specialist- Orthopaedic
London: 30 Devonshire Street, The Princess Grace Hospital
Full time: 37.5 hours/week Mon Fri (Service is open 8am-9pm)with Occasional Saturdays
Shifts: flexible on working hours to meet the needs of the service
Permanent contract
Salary Competitive depending on experience
Main duties of the job
As a clinical leader, you will facilitate the patients journey from first contact through to discharge. As a CNS you will make sure that patient centred care is delivered at its highest standard while collaborating with other members of the MDT Team such as the therapy teams and governance.
As an independent practitioner you will encourage and teach the enhanced recovery programme after surgery (ERAS) with all patients. You will also lead on clinical audits and research under the direction of the Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and have a commitment to improving practice based on research findings.

Job responsibilities
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will;
- Build trust with the physicians and patients through multidisciplinary care coordination.
- Assist in educating patients about their disease so they can make informed decisions about their care.
- Provide emotional support to the patient, family and caregivers.
- Signpost patients to support networks, internally and externally.
- Advocate for the patient in development of the treatment plan.
- Manage a caseload within their own scope of practice, with support from the wider clinical team.

- Teaching or mentoring qualification
- Evidence of continuous professional development in clinical area. (i.e. relevant short courses and study days)
- Completed a module around evidence-based practice or research methods at level 6 or 7
- Completed relevant post graduate module, where available (level 6 or 7)
- Working towards, or willing to work towards a Masters degree within the first year on employment
- Evidence of Advanced Communication Skills (level 2 course), or willing to complete within the first year of employment.
