Do you have a passion for promoting and improving the health for children and young people (CYP) aged 5 to 18 in care? An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Derbyshire Children in Care (CiC) Nursing Team working part time across a geographical caseload within Derbyshire. We are looking for a Specialist Nurse for CiC to join our well-established team providing high quality statutory health assessments for Children in Care across Derbyshire. Our base is at Clay Cross Clinic, but we offer a variety of appointment types and access clinics in the North and South of the County.

You will be involved in developing and implementing pathways to support, assess and improve the health of Children in Care across Derbyshire. The role covers all aspects of Children in Care including Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children, Care Experienced Young People and children with complex health needs residing in residential settings. You will require experience of Safeguarding to actively participate in a Duty Day rota, attending Strategy Meetings and the ability to maintain excellent record keeping and complete detailed reports and health care plans is a vital element of the role. The ability to manage a caseload, prioritise and adapt your diary, work safely alone, and effectively within a team are all key skills. The role can be clinic based, office based and visiting children in foster and residential placements. We offer a full induction and competency package to support this role.

  1. Complete Statutory Review Health Assessments within timescales
  2. Formulate robust, high quality Health Care Plans
  3. Complete comprehensive child focussed reports capturing the voice of the child.
  4. Work collaboratively with other agencies including Social Care, Policy, Safeguarding, Education and other health organisations.
  5. Provide information and signposting to Multi-Disciplinary Team supporting Children in Care
  6. Participate in Duty Days calculated pro rata.
