Our department consists of Plaster Room and Orthopaedic Clinic for both adult and paediatric patients.
Full time 37.5 hours per week. Permanent post.The Royal Bolton Orthopaedic Department is looking to recruit a highly motivated Band 3 Health Care Support Worker to join our team. We are a fast-paced unit with a high turnover of patients. The team is looking for people who have lots of enthusiasm for patient care and a positive attitude with a passion and interest in Trauma and Orthopaedics.
Our department consists of Plaster Room and Orthopaedic Clinic for both adult and paediatric patients. This provides a unique opportunity to learn the art of casting/plastering, bracing and simple wound care for hospital and community patients.
There is excellent scope to progress, develop and further your clinical skills in a highly specialised unit. You will be working together as part of a multidisciplinary, professional team to assess care needs, and develop, implement, evaluate programmes of care.
This will be a training role with an expectation to undertake the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) Casting Certificate.
Ensure a safe and tidy working environment at all time
Undertake a range of duties involving direct patient care, as instructed by experienced practitioners, and ensure delegated nursing care is completed safely and effectively.
Assist in monitoring patients conditions, record observations as instructed and report to nursing staff
Assist patients to access and use toilet facilities, and dispose of bodily waste.
Assist in the collection of pathological specimens.
Assist in the moving patients and equipment within the department. In accordance with safe movement and handling techniques.
Assist and carry out therapeutic and diagnostic procedures by preparing, cleaning and handling equipment.
Help maintain materials, equipment and stock, reporting problems and defects in a timely manner.
Respond and provide assistance, as directed by registered staff, in the event of a health emergency
Assist and chaperone medical staff in the department
Undertake duties appropriate to the role and patient care needs.
Complete administrative duties as required
Maintain and be responsible for own training both mandatory and statutory.
