Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Public Health Apprentice, we'll count on you to:
- Assist experienced engineers in the design process in order to gain a detailed working knowledge of all parts of the industry.
- Assist Senior Engineers with detailed design tasks and drawing production.
- Develop an understanding of the different building materials and techniques employed in design.
- Carry out detailed design calculations and develop a full understanding of computer design packages.
- Maintain a Continuing Professional Development diary to assist in obtaining appropriate qualifications
- Develop an understanding of appropriate Legislation Standards, Building Regulations and Codes of Practice
- Learn and understand design techniques and develop awareness of other design disciplines
- Maintain a training Log on a daily basis, recording achievements and experience
- Attend relevant training as required by the practice.
- Attend Lunch time CPD's and Knowledge Sharing sessions.
- Assist in maintaining QA systems on projects.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- Willing to work towards a degree qualification.
- Educated at ideally A-Level, equivalent and above.
- Able to qualify for the government apprenticeship criteria.
- Competency in MS Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint are desired.
- A commitment to a career in Public Health Design Engineering.
- Be organised and comfortable juggling multiple work streams.
- Good administration skills with ability to multi-task.
- Ability to project a positive, welcoming and professional attitude at all times.
- Able to work as part as a team and collaboratively and co-operatively.
- Attention to detail, diligent at all times and a proactive attitude.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Be able to take direction and report progress on your work with others.
- Be driven and proactive with ability to work autonomously on occasion.
- A personable approach and a 'can do' attitude is essential.
