This is a replacement post for one of our 6 sessional Medical Examiners. In the first instance, it will be a 2-year fixed term renewable post.
The sessional post involves delivering a statutory second level of scrutiny for all Hospital deaths and non-acute sector deaths where the coroner's duty to investigate is not engaged.
As a team, we expect to offer independent and proportionate scrutiny on approximately 1850 cases per annum.
Full training will be given and is available on-line. Further details are available on the Royal College of Pathologists website.
It will be based at Hillingdon Hospital. Applicants must be familiar with our local working environment, with broad NHS experience.
Th post involves 1 session per week (plus prospective cover) with 5 daytime hours of remote cover for urgent registrations one weekend in six .
Some flexibility would be an advantage.
It will be based at Hillingdon Hospital.
The post pays 1.042 PA plus 2% on-call availability supplement at an appropriate point of the consultant scale.

T To ensure compliance with the legal and procedural requirements associated with the current processes.
To scrutinise the certified causes of death offered by attending doctors
To discuss and explain the cause of death with the bereaved.
T To maintain comprehensive records of all deaths scrutinised.
To participate in relevant clinical governance activities
To support the training of doctors in their understanding of death certification and promote good practice.
To work with medical examiner officers (MEOs), delegating duties as appropriate.
To adopt a collaborative working relationship with other MEs.
