£25,800 + Car Allowance

Monday - Friday 8.30am - 5.30pm - Initially Temporary to Possibly Permanent

This role requires a DBS (Basic Disclosure)

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Officer to work closely with their tenants in and around the York area.

The overall objective of the role is to provide short term intensive support to tenants who may be at risk of losing their home through non-payment of rent, anti-social behaviour or other tenancy breaches.

Whilst this role requires a level of flexibility and travel, a car driver would be of benefit, however this is not an essential requirement.

The role:

  • Must have a previous track record of delivering Housing Related Support to tenants
  • Committed to providing the highest possible standard of service to tenants
  • Provide ongoing support and address any concerns, guidance, training and feedback
  • Experience of working with vulnerable adults e.g. Young People, Older People, those with Drug and Alcohol problems, Ex-offenders, and those with Mental Health issues
  • Experience of handling housing management
  • Experience of working with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to use judgement and take ownership of decision-making
  • Ability to deliver services in line with service level agreements
  • Ability to interpret, analyse and produce relevant management information
  • Work with neighbourhood management staff to ensure tenants understand and adhere to tenancy agreements.
  • Working with tenants experiencing financial difficulty to maximise their income, ensuring they are receiving their full benefit entitlement.
  • Conducting full income and expenditure checks and assisting with budgeting skills to ensure rent and other priority debts are paid.
  • Undertake regular support sessions
  • Liaising with housing, health and welfare professionals
