An opportunity has arisen to provide high quality psychological services to children and young people with diabetes in East Kent.

The post holder will be based at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford and work as part of the children's diabetes team (CDT) to provide psychological services to CYP with diabetes across the multiple clinic sites and two inpatient units.

Consideration may be given to applications from clinical psychologists who may not as yet entirely have the skills and experience required for the post at 8B level; depending on levels of interest we may consider appointing at 8A

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide specialist psychological services to children and young people with diabetes and related health conditions and their families seen within the EKHUFT Children's diabetes team. This is outpatient-based assessment and intervention, addressing psychological issues associated with diabetes. There may be some inpatient work. The psychologist will be based in the Paula Carr Diabetes Centre, William Harvey hospital, Ashford with the Children's Diabetes Team; the post will involve provision of clinics at other locations across the Trust.

Roles and responsibilities will include psychological assessment and intervention with children and families, consultation and support and provision of psychological advice as part of the multidisciplinary team, and duties in multi-agency liaison; working autonomously within professional guidelines and the departmental policies and practices.
