We currently have vacancies for health care support workers in Older peoples services at The Royal London Hospital, Bartshealth NHS Trust. We are the Elsie Gilding Unit, 14 E and 14 F ward, and we are a diverse and inclusive team. We are guided by Bartshealth Wecare values in all we do. We are looking for people who take pride in being able to meet the physical, mental and emotional challenges of working with older people, who require much assistance with their activities of daily living. Many older people here are currently living with dementia, delirium or cognitive defecit. There are opportunities to learn and develop particularly in the areas of dementia care, wound care and falls prevention. As an acute ward, we look after older people who need regular monitoring of their vital signs. We also care for those who are at the end of life and provide individualised palliative care. Being a good communicator and being non-judgemental are very important to this role. The working environment can be stressful and we encourage all staff to engage in self-care at home and to access the wellbeing services available to them.

As part of the recruitment process for this post, candidates will be required to complete an online literacy and numeracy test and only if they pass this, will they be invited to a formal interview.

To work under the supervision of a registered nurse. To assist patients with their activities of daily living such as personal care, pressure care and feeding. To assist nursing staff with monitoring patients. To complete administrative tasks under the direction of registered nurses. To maintain comfort for those at end of life. To work well in a team and promote safe discharge back into the community. This job is both physically and emotinally demanding but can be very rewarding.
