KEY RESULT AREAS:
Toprovide assessment, screening treatment services and health education advice.
Toprovide assessment, diagnosis and treatment of any specific clinicalspecialism/pathway as advertised for the post (eg asthma diabetes ect.)
Towork as an integral part of the practice nursing team in organising theprovision of nursing services (where applicable) for the practice.
Providenursing treatments for patients.
Advisepatients on minor ailments with referral to GP as necessary.
Providegeneral wound care.
Participatein national screening work such as cervical cytology and delivery of nationalimmunisation and vaccine schedules.
Provisionof effective chronic disease management programmes to the practice populationaccording to agreed protocols.
Undertakethe collection of pathological specimens including, venepuncture, swabs, smearsect.
Performinvestigative procedures e.g. ECG and spirometry
Providefamily planning and sexual health screening and advice.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROFESSIONALRESPONSIBILITIES
Participatein the administrative and professional responsibilities of the practice team.
Ensureaccurate notes of all consultations and treatments are recordedcomptemporaneously in the patients computerised record and where appropriate,in their written notes using System one.
Ensureaccurate completion of all necessary documentation associated with patient careand registration with the practice.
Ensurecollection and maintenance of statistical information required for regular andad hoc reports.
TREATMENT ROOM SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT
Cleanrelevant equipment and maintain supplies of appropriate consumables inaccordance with the Practice Infection Control Policy.
LIAISON
Maintaineffective communication and co-ordination with other members of the practicenursing team.
Maintaineffective liaison with other agencies and staff concerned with patient care andall other disciplines within the practice, with appropriate regard toconfidentiality.
PROFESSIONALDEVELOPMENT
Attend and participate in meetings with othermembers of the practice team.
Maintain continued education by attendance atcourses and study days as deemed useful. and necessary for professionaldevelopment or the work being undertaken by the practice.
To undertake an annual review in according withthe Practice Performance Management System.
To maintain any status/registrations required toundertake the duties of the role (e.g. revalidation)
To ensure all mandatory training is kept up todate.
INFECTION CONTROL
Awareness of national standards of infectioncontrol and cleanliness and regulatory/contractual/professional requirements,and good practice guidelines.
Responsible for the correct and safe managementof the specimens process. including collection, labelling, handling, use ofcorrect and clean containers, storage and transport arrangements.
Management and maintenance of PersonalProtective Equipment (PPE) for the practice including provision, ordering, availabilityand on-going correct usage by staff.
HAND HYGIENE
Making effective use of training to update knowledgeand skills, and initiate and manage the training of others across the fullrange of infection control and patient processes.
Monitoring practice facilities and equipment inrelation to infection control, ensuring that provision of hand cleansing facilities,wipes are sufficient to ensure a good clinical working environment. Lack offacilities to be escalated as appropriate.
Safe management of sharps procedures includingtraining, use, storage and disposal.
Use appropriate infection control procedures,maintaining work areas in a tidy, clean and sterile and safe way, free fromhazards. Initiation of remedial/corrective action where needed or escalation toresponsible management.
Undertaking periodic IPC training.
Waste management including collection, handling,segregation, container management, storage and collection.
Spillage control procedures, management andtraining. Decontamination control procedures, management and training, andequipment maintenance.
