Clinical Responsibilities
The Havens is London's Sexual Assault Referral Centre. The Havens provide comprehensive forensic, medical and aftercare services to clients who have experienced serious sexual assault within the past 12 months. We are a longstanding partnership initiative between the Mayors' Office for Policing and Crime and NHS England.The Children and Young Persons (CYP) Psychology Service at the Havens provides CYP and their families, presenting with psychological difficulties post-sexual abuse with specialist psychological assessment and short to medium term interventions (individual and group programmes). Additionally the service provides forensic interviewing of CYP, alongside being active in audit, research and training.We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Practitioner Clinical/Counselling Psychologist registered with the HCPC and/or Senior CBT therapist registered with BABCP with experience of working therapeutically with CYP who have experienced sexual trauma. Experience of assessing and managing risk in the context of mental health and safeguarding is vital as well as experience of providing evidence-based short to medium-term therapy. You will need the ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.We are a warm and supportive therapies team who prioritise Trauma-informed care and encourage creativity, welcome diversity and always appreciate ideas on how to improve our service.
You will provide a highly specialist psychology service to CYP who have experienced rape and/or sexual assault, including specialist assessment, treatment, planning, implementation and monitoring of outcomes. You will have clinical responsibility for managing your caseload, waitlists, safeguarding responsibilities, report and letter writing, collection and collation of outcome measures and activity.You will contribute to enabling other staff and service users from diverse backgrounds to flourish by working to create a psychologically safe environment. You will also help develop the Havens Therapies' service and ensure the development of strong inter-agency relationships is established.You will utilise psychological knowledge in initiating and undertaking the development, implementation and review of services for patients and staff. You will provide clinical supervision and consultation as appropriate (including to clinical psychology trainees and assistants) to promote psychosocial knowledge in the Havens.You will contribute to audits, research and training in addition to carrying out liaison work with local agencies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are therefore essential. A willingness to rise to the challenges presented by this area of work and a commitment to providing an excellent service to survivors of sexual assault are also necessary.
