As a Hospital Based Maternity IDVA you will:

  • Be responsible for delivering domestic violence and abuse (DVA) training to health professionals as part of the MIDASS Project
  • Working with pre and post-natal women within a maternity hospital setting to improve their understanding of domestic violence and abuse (DVA)
  • To increase the numbers of victims identified and referred for support.
  • Provide risk assessment, holistic support and advocacy for the individuals referred by the participating maternity hospital professional

To be successful as an Hospital Based Maternity IDVA you will need to:

  • Have a formal qualification in gender-based violence eg SafeLives IDVA or ISAC or willing to complete in post
  • Have a working knowledge of the civil and criminal justice system, welfare benefits and immigration in relation to high risk of high harm service users
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of risk assessments, risk management and safety and support planning in relation to IDVA service users
