Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Undertake nurse prescribing in accordance
    with Trust / Divisional and departmental
    policies an protocols
  • Take responsibility for the development of the service and work in line with the departmental targets to ensure that the team work cohesively in achieving them.
  • Staff rosters are efficient and planned in
    advance using the electronic rostering system ensuring adequate staffing and skill mix to meet the needs of the patients and in
    accordance with the roster policy
  • Responsible for recruitment of staff
  • Staff sickness and absence is managed in
    accordance with Trust policy and electronic
    rostering system analysis tools are accessed regularly to support monitoring of the delivery of efficient rosters.

    appraisal
  • Deals proactively with poor performance in
    line with Trust Policy and Procedure
  • Is responsible for leading and developing the departmental nursing team and support
    teams by being a visible and strong role
    model providing leadership and direction to

Qualifications & Education



Essential criteria

  • Registered Nurse
  • Have a recognised ENP qualification or currently be working towards it.
  • Post graduate certificate in None-Medical Prescribing (or achieve within 18 months of appointment)

Desirable criteria

  • ALS/APLS
  • Adult/paediatric safeguarding.
  • Major incident awareness

Knowledge & Experience



Essential criteria

  • Recent experience of working in an emergency department or minor injuries/walk in centre
  • Able to perform clinical duties commensurate of the role.
  • Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures that relate to the Emergency department.
  • Able to undertake the interpretation and diagnosis of Xrays
  • Experience of mentorship and ability to identify learning and development needs

Desirable criteria

  • Able to demonstrate up to date working knowledge of Emergency department targets
