Band Doctor - other  FIXED TERM 

To manage PICU patients under the supervision of the Chief PICU Fellow and Consultant on Duty. To take part in a full-shift rota which will include being resident when on the night shift. To undertake teaching and guideline development within the fixed rota. To participate in the Paediatric Retrieval rota, initially in a Supernumerary role, the length of which will depend on previous Retrieval experience. To have the opportunity to gain airway and access skills experience in theatres. To participate in the training of the Retrieval Nurse Practitioners. To undertake a P.A.L.S or A.P.L.S Course if have not already done so.

Scope of the role:

We welcome applications from registrars from a range of backgrounds with a range of experience and can discuss individual training needs. Applicants should have completed a minimum of two years of training at the equivalent of specialist registrar level in a parent speciality and have experience in a critical care field. This equates to at least six months experience in a level three neonatal unit for paediatricians or six months anaesthesia or adult ICU for other specialities. Appointment will be at the equivalent of specialist registrar year six and above.

o To provide a high quality and responsive delivery of patient care to the patients in PICU. o To participate fully in all aspects of the service appropriate to the grade and experience of the potholder.

Key Relationshipso Patients and their parents/families/carers on PICUo Clinical Staff on PICUo Other Consultant staff in ECH and GSTTo Senior management team in ECHo Clinical teams in DGH's in the South Thames region when on retrievalso To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care o To participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training
