To assist in the provision of an urgent medical service to the practice populations of Central Area in particular providing nurse triage in the agreed format.
To work flexibly as part of a triage nurse rota covering weekdays.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
- Utilise Triage support templates supported by analytical and judgemental skills in triaging telephone calls or via face-to-face patient contact to assess and evaluate the information given, use appropriate further questioning, diagnose a problem/illness and reach a clinical conclusion in accordance with agreed protocols and guidance.
- Utilise clinical guidelines, protocols, policies, procedures and Patient Group Directions in the assessments of need and delivery of clinical care and advice.
- Prioritises all contacts received and organises the allocation of consultation appointments.
- Chaperone patients as requested during consultations in the treatment centre.
- Administer therapies (as prescribed) for treatment of acute and chronic conditions and occasionally undertake basic analysis of body fluid specimens.
- Provides basic general nursing care and assistance in emergency situations.
- Monitors workload situation at all times to ensure that all contacts are made within the agreed standards/timescales in accordance with Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) targets.
- Be flexible to work across other managed practices in Central Area (as and when requested).
- Support the Lead Nurse in ensuring there is adequate nurse cover for each shift.
