A chaplain is needed to support the work of the Pastoral, Spiritual and Religious Care Team at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
You will be based at either the York or Scarborough Hospital site but be part of the Trust wide team, working 4 days a week (0.8wte) on a flexible rota.
As an autonomous, qualified practitioner the role is to seek out and respond to the pastoral, spiritual and religious needs of individuals, their carers and staff. In addition, the chaplain will also be expected to contribute to the out-of-hours on call rota including weekend cover.
The Pastoral, Spiritual and Religious Care Team, of which the Chaplain will be a member, provides for the spiritual, religious and pastoral needs of patients, staff and visitors within the Trust.
The team’s aim is to offer support which is sensitive, appropriate to individual need and which upholds our Trust Values and Behaviours.
A job share would be considered.
You should be educated to honours degree or equivalent in a subject relevant to Healthcare Chaplaincy and have a qualification relevant to the role such as Ordination or recognised pastoral worker accreditation in good standing with the appropriate authorising faith community or belief group.
Substantial, recent pastoral experience in a local faith/belief community setting or equivalent is essential together with chaplaincy experience within the NHS or within a related acute healthcare setting.
Based at either York or Scarborough hospital you will work on a flexible rota within the Chaplaincy team across all Trust sites and will receive full support, training and supervision.
You will be working across the Trust so the successful applicant will be required to regularly travel to our different sites. You will have access to a Trust pool car to travel away from your base location, however there may be times one is not available so you will need to be a car owner/driver or have access to a motor vehicle as the role will involve travel to other sites that cannot be easily accessed by public transport.
