Essential criteria

  • Full GMC Registration and License to Practice
  • MBBS or equivalent

Desirable criteria

  • Full MRCS

Experience and Skills



Essential criteria

  • A minimum of 6 months experience in General Surgery at CT2 level or equivalent
  • Understanding of research methodology and ethics
  • Completion of Basic/Core surgical training rotation
  • Literacy and letter writing skills/ Computer skills

Desirable criteria

  • UK experience in General Surgery/Urology
  • Evidence of peer reviewed publications
  • Laparoscopic training course
  • Management course/certification
  • Evidence of commitment to audit

Personal Attributes



Essential criteria

  • Example(s) of effective communication skills and the ability to communicate and liaise effectively with patients, relatives and staff.
  • Example(s) of good organisation skills.
  • Example(s) of working well within a multidisciplinary environment.

Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of participation in educational skills training.
  • Evidence of participation in an appraisal course
  • Evidence of communication skills course.
