Role Overview
Join our specialized Stroke Unit at York Hospital, where your expertise will be instrumental in providing critical care and rehabilitation to stroke patients. As a Stroke Occupational Therapist, you will play a key role in helping patients regain independence, improve their quality of life, and achieve their rehabilitation goals.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive assessments of stroke patients to determine their individual needs and develop tailored rehabilitation plans.
Implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions to promote recovery and enhance functional abilities.
Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and speech therapists, to deliver holistic care.
Provide education and support to patients and their families, empowering them to participate actively in the rehabilitation process.
Advise on the provision of adaptive equipment and home modifications to facilitate safe and independent living.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, ensuring compliance with professional standards and NHS policies.
Participate in case conferences, clinical audits, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
Requirements
A degree in Occupational Therapy and current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Proven experience in a clinical setting, preferably in stroke rehabilitation or neurology.
Strong understanding of stroke-specific rehabilitation techniques and best practices.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team.
Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
