Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Clinical Fellow post (ST3 or above level) within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Specialty at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Prior experience in obstetrics and gynaecology is essential for this post.
The post is a 6-month fixed term contract. Lancashire Teaching Hospital is a large teaching hospital closely linked with the University of Manchester. The successful candidate will contribute to the 2nd on-call rota for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The post is ideal for candidates who wish to gain further experience and training in the specialty, whilst broadening their skills prior to application to specialty training. This is a full-time post, however applications from candidates seeking a part time post will be considered.
Main duties of the jobDuties will include:
To work within the delivery suite to provide input to the routine and the emergency workload at first on-call level. You will be expected to have adequate experience to enable you to work competently at the ST3 level.
To assist elective Caesarean Sections.
To work within the Ante-natal clinics, Maternity Triage as well as maternity antenatal and postnatal wards
To assist in the provision of an Emergency Gynaecology Service as a firston-call level.
To work within the Gynaecology clinics and wards
To assist Gynaecological surgery
On-call duties are on a 1: 9 full shift system. Initially this is alongside and supporting a senior obstetrics and gynaecology trainee doctor (ST3-6) on the 2nd on call rota and then progressing to the increased seniority itself.
To support undergraduate education in the department- time and training will be allocated on the rota for this role.
