are looking to recruit a
Community Prevention and Education Practitioner.


Under the direction of the Team Leader, the post holder will deliver and coordinate education and training initiatives. These will be within classrooms, workshops and on line (e-learning) designed to support colleagues, partner agencies, local businesses, carers, young people and community groups.

The post holder will provide training; for example to assess Young People Substance Misuse using our "Whats the score?" triage. They will also deliver training on brief interventions for drug and alcohol use. It will help the learner to understanding the wider harms that can be caused by the use of drugs and alcohol. In addition, the post holder will coordinate the delivery of annual training packages, led by the needs of the local community and workforce.

The post holder will operate across a range of services, across the entirety of the Sefton foot print, especially within educational establishments but also in GP practices and primary care settings, health and social care services and the within wider community settings.

In addition you will support the development of partnerships with the wider community network and Community Groups, this will include social media promotion. You will support service User Involvement, Peer Mentor & Volunteers in the training and development of Service User Reps, Recovery Graduates and Volunteers.

The post holder will be expected to work flexibly within an agreed number of hours and across operational sites as required.

Key activities


  • To develop and deliver training in brief interventions in relation to alcohol, substance use and prevention
  • To develop and deliver community education programmes across Sefton partnership to increase knowledge, awareness and resilience, to reduce stigma and to promote early intervention and signposting into service
  • Under the leadership of the Team Leader to proactively identify and plan opportunities to deliver education and prevention interventions across Sefton including partnership agencies, community organisations, businesses and other groups.
  • To establish and maintain links with partner agencies and local support services with the aim of promoting harm reduction from alcohol and substances including Novel Psychoactive Substances and cannabis etc



About you


  • You will be required to work across several operational sites across the area as required and work flexibly within an agreed number of hours to maintain the most appropriate level of service provision. This will include evening and weekend working
  • Take responsibility for personal development, identify personal training needs and participate in regular supervision and appraisal
  • Knowledge and experience of developing and leading health and social care services
  • Experience of effective partnership working, relationship management, pathway and protocol development
  • Ability to lead, inspire and develop
  • Ability to develop positive working cultures and relationships, embedded in CGL values
