A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Pharmacist to join our large and friendly pharmacy team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The successful post holder will be part of our highly valued and skilled Oncology, Haematology and Palliative Care team. They will have a chance to make a difference every day and deliver exceptional service.
In undertaking this post you will gain experience and receive training in all aspects of our services for oncology and haematology patients. You will rotate between our in-patient wards providing a patient focused clinical service and be trained to support specialist adult and paediatric clinics, clinical trials, clinical verification of chemotherapy, aseptic services and our chemotherapy electronic prescribing system.
The ideal candidate will be ambitious, self-motivated and organised with excellent communication, time management and interpersonal skills. You will be able to work effectively alone and as part of a team and will contribute to the process of service development and innovation by your own initiative and enthusiasm.
The role is offered on a full-time basis. You will be based at University Hospital Coventry, a PFI hospital opened in 2006 which is situated just off the junction of the M6 and M69.

Our pharmacy department has an innovative approach to pharmaceutical care with a ward-based technician service and pharmacist led clinics. We have strong links with the Medical School at Warwick University and the department of Medicines Management at Keele University.
The post provides an opportunity to develop clinical and technical skills within a large acute teaching hospital. There are also developmental opportunities through contributing to a speciality group; governance, guidance, budget and local policy.
Successful candidates will work in our busy MHRA licensed aseptic suite within an excellent and highly experienced team of specialist pharmacy technicians, assistants and pharmacists. You will also support the provision of chemotherapy to our chemotherapy day unit at our sister hospital, The Hospital of St Cross in Rugby.
You will provide a clinical pharmacy ward service and be trained to clinically screen chemotherapy prescriptions as part of your role.
You will also be able to develop your palliative care knowledge and may have the opportunity to provide pharmaceutical care to our local hospices.
This position requires you to have a postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy (Hospital) or equivalent, possess excellent communication skills and be able to manage your time effectively.
The department supports CPD for all staff.
