Job Summary:

The postholder will be responsible for completing a variety of tasks contributing to patients care. This includes i.e., registration of new patients, prescriptions enquiries, and bookings of routine/urgent appointments. You will also provide administrative support to the doctors and other healthcare professionals to deliver effective services.


Key Responsibilities:



Duties may be varied from time to time under the direction of the Patient services manager and other senior members of staff, dependent on current and evolving practice workload and staffing levels:

  • Making daily bookings of urgent and routine appointments via AccuRx and telephone.

Carrying out a variety of administration duties including registration of new patients, ordering repeat prescriptions, preparing administrations letters, and allocating lab reports.

  • Responding to tasks sent via Docman and AccuRx.
  • Monitoring and responding to emails received to the generic Practice email account.
  • Communicating and providing clerical support to a variety of staff i.e., GPs, pharmacists, admin, and reception
  • To initiate outgoing telephone calls to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with appropriate queries.
  • To maintain the computer clinic system in an accurate and secure manner.
  • To assist with the gathering of statistics and information when required.
  • To provide cover for members of the administrative team during periods of sickness and annual leave.
  • Covering Reception if required
  • Any other duties as reasonably required by the Patient Services Manager.
