Job Overview
This role will support the coordination of care for cancer patients through their cancer pathways for the Diagnostic pathway within endoscopy. This role will be focussed around the Faster Diagnostic Standards of the cohort of patients who are referred to Frimley Health from local GPs, internal services and other trusts on a diagnostic endoscopy pathway.
This role will be guided and supervised by the Endoscopy Service Manager and the Deputy Service Manager in collaboration with the cancer team in order to meet the targets set by the Faster Diagnostic standards with patient with a GI suspected Cancer.
The post holder will coordinate the pathway through endoscopy from referral to report and either the confirmation of a confirmed cancer or no cancer is suspected. The post holder will support recording of national audit data for cancer patients in collaboration with clinical teams to support FDS (Faster Diagnosis Standard), SSMP (Self supported Management Programme).
Main duties of the job
Co-ordinate care by providing a seamless pathway for all FDS patients ensuring we meet the Faster diagnostic pathway. Targets to be met for OGD’s, Colonoscopy and Flexible Sigmoidoscopy. To liaise with all patients booking their Diagnostic procedure, ensuring that they have their bowel prep on time and that all patients are called and confirmed to reduce DNA rates and ensure the patient comes in within the FDS targeted pathway.
The post holder will also provide information to patients and service users regarding support available during their cancer pathway.
