An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the hospital pharmacy team at St John’s Hospital. The pharmacy team is committed to the education and training of staff to ensure continuous development and opportunity for progression. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our team at St John’s Hospital. As a pharmacy support worker within hospital services, you’ll work as part of a well-established team to deliver high quality pharmaceutical care to patients. You will assist in the provision of a range of technical pharmacy services within distribution and procurement, such as medicines assembly and supply, wards medicines ordering service, stock control, goods receipt and staff training and induction.

Posts will support evening, weekend and public holiday service provision as part of the wider pharmacy team. Job shares, part-time and flexible working will be considered.

Successful candidates will have an enthusiasm for learning and development and should demonstrate personal values aligned with the NHS Lothian Values. The successful candidate will have National 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics and be able to complete SCQF Level 6, single unit relevant to job role within the 12 months following the probationary period.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
