University Hospitals Dorset, Poole Hospital is looking to recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow ST4+ to work in the Emergency Department. This is an exciting opportunity for a doctor working at the level of a registrar/middle grade to gain experience in a busy Regional Trauma Unit.
The post holder will join the Emergency Department team using a self rostering system which includes day, evening, weekend and night shifts.
Actively assess and manage adult and paediatric patients attending the ED across the range of common emergency medicine presentations, including the resuscitation & assessment of seriously ill and injured patients.
To be competent running the emergency department in the Emergency Physician in Charge (EPIC) role, including out of hours with distant supervision.
Out of hours Major Trauma Team leader for level 1 calls, including initial reception and resuscitation until on call consultant arrives.
Supervision and senior review of cases presented by doctors in training.
Advice on referral of patients needing admission to most appropriate specialty, in line with trust guidance
To seek advice from Consultants and inpatient specialities as required.
Assist in maintaining flow of patients through the department and support the national 4 hour safety standard and Quality Indicators
Consultant presence is currently daily from 08:00 - 22:00 with off-site support out of hours.
