Job Advert

We are looking to recruit passionate Relief Support Workers to join our dedicated team of Support Workers in the Wiltshire and Salisbury Area.

Do you want to make a positive difference to people’s lives?
For some people, Support Work is something they would love to do but life makes it difficult to commit to a full or part time position. That's where the role of a Relief Support Worker comes in! It gives you the flexibility to choose the shifts you want to work, based on your availability and the needs of the service.

Support work is required 24 hours a day, so you must be willing to work flexibly as and when required. Cover is required throughout the week, weekends and bank holidays, with sleep-in shifts as well.
You will receive an enhanced flat rate payment of £62.45 for any sleep in shifts carried out. The payment for sleep ins is non-contractual.

About Our Services

You will be supporting some lovely individuals through floating support, across a number of supported living services within the Wiltshire, Salisbury & Amesbury community – it is due to this style of support that applicants with a driving licence are desirable, but not essential.

The people here all require different levels of support. You can expect to be supporting people with day to day tasks such as; shopping, cooking, eating and drinking, personal care, laundry, finances, medication and administration. You will also support them to organise activities and access the community, to socialise and for leisure, as well as to attend health appointments. There are a wide variety of different personalities, which require a dedicated approach to person-centred support – something we are passionate about here at Mencap.

The people we support in Salisbury see many things as being important to them, be it through supporting them in adult life with things like finance and supporting them while preparing meals, or with more general support such as going to new places and talking to people within the community. Aside from day to day support, you will also support these individuals with their hobbies; gardening, arts and craft and who doesn’t enjoy a coffee and a catch up?

What We're Looking For

  • A genuine passion for supporting others.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
  • All roles are subject to an enhanced DBS check and suitable references.

Job ID: 3 1425

Benefits

As well as knowing that what we do is making a positive difference to people’s lives, you will receive fair pay and have access to a wide range of rewards and benefits as one of our employees.

  • Flexibility to work the hours you choose
  • Discounts and cashback from 3% to 30% at high street shops including major supermarkets, cinemas, gyms, leisure/theme parks, holidays and much more via Mencap Extras
  • Annual leave entitlement based on hours accrued
  • Opportunity to purchase a health cash plan to claim towards dental, glasses, therapy etc.
  • Free access to round the clock employee assistance program for advice and support
  • Access to award winning training and development
  • T&C's apply based on contract
