PATIENT CARE ADVISOR – 37 hours

ADMINISTRATIVE & CLERICAL Band 2

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team at Links Medical Centre as we are currently seeking a Patient Care Advisor to provide a welcoming reception service in person and on the telephone.

You will be a team-player who is conscientious, flexible, with excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills, as well as a sense of humour. You should have outstanding organisational skills, as well as plenty of initiative, enthusiasm, flexibility, be self-motivated and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

You will be expected to deal with the general public face to face and sometimes in challenging situations. A sympathetic approach to the needs of our patient group is essential alongside a professional manner when dealing with a wide variety of disciplines at all levels. You should have the ability to prioritize your work, with a good understanding of current computer systems being essential.

You must be prepared to work within the practice opening hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm.

Previous experience in Primary Care preferred but not essential if you possess the relevant skills and have an active interest in working in a public facing role within a healthcare environment.

Duties Will Include

• Using your judgement, resourcefulness, common sense, and local knowledge within defined parameters to respond to patient’s enquiries, particularly in assessing the degree of urgency of the patient’s requests.
• Responding to patient enquiries and providing relevant information relating to their appointment/services.
• Communicating with patients, other services, and members of multidisciplinary teams, using tact and diplomacy, directing and prioritising queries as appropriate, to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery.
• Answering the practice telephones, actively listening to patient’s issues or medical problems, and signposting them appropriately according to practice policies and procedures.
• Provide secretarial and administrative support to the Primary Care Team, Practice Manager and Assistant Practice Manager.
• To support you in your work you will have the opportunity to engage in regular one to one support and annual appraisal with the Practice Manager or Assistant Practice Manager.
