The role of "Technician" at Cults Academy in Aberdeen involves providing technical support services to enhance curriculum delivery and learning activities in a school setting. This position requires the technician to assist with a range of services including ICT support, reprographics, audiovisual aid, and assistance in subjects such as Science, Art, and Design. The role is permanent, with a standard workweek of 35 hours, and candidates must possess a Higher National Certificate (HNC) or equivalent experience, along with PVG membership or the willingness to obtain it.

Duration: Permanent, 35hrs per week. 52 weeks per year (consideration would be given to term time for preferred candidate)
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,284 per annum / £16.64 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee's first FULL month's salary payment.
Job Purpose
To contribute to the provision of a technical support service in school, including ICT, to support curriculum delivery and learning and teaching activities. School technical support services can include reprographics, DTP, AV, Science, Art & Design, Home Economics, Design &Technology, ICT, Photography, Film and Recording. To attend relevant meetings and training sessions. These tasks will be undertaken in conjunction with other departmental duties.

Requirements
- Higher National Certificate (HNC, ONC) or equivalent relevant experience.
- PVG membership for regulated work with children, a dults and/or vulnerable groups OR willingness to obtain prior to commencing work.
- Able to ensure that the purpose and outcomes of the job are achieved
- Able to work with others co-operatively (both internally and externally) in order to achieve better services and customer focused outcomes
- Safety conscious and willing to work with the employer to maintain a safe and healthy educational environment for pupils and staff
- Competence in use of ICT
