At BPAS, we have an exciting part-time opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our units inLondon working an average 11.25 hours per week on Wednesdays and alternate Thursdays.
We are looking for someone who by working alongside our Nurses & Midwives will be able provide the best client care.
You will assist the clinical team to maintain and improve high standards of client care within the operating department and recovery areas of the unit. You will also carry out assigned tasks unsupervised in support of a registered practitioner and care for our clients.
About You
You will have experience working in healthcare especially in a hospital, GP practice or operating theatre setting. With a positive can do attitude you will enjoy working as a part of a team and be passionate about helping and caring for others.
Candidates will need to be comfortable with terminations of pregnancy and seeing this procedure in theatre.
Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
- To assist with the care, support and observations of the client before and after treatment, report findings to the Registered Practitioners.
- To assist in the preparation and serving of refreshments
- Help check and prepare the operating department environment and equipment prior to use, between clients and at the end of a list.
- Undertake counts of swabs, instruments and needles in conjunction with another trained member of the surgical team, and assist the surgical team during surgical procedures.
- To have an understanding of clients' individual needs and to maintain a helpful, courteous approach to clients, visitors and colleagues.
We Are Also Looking For:
- Care certificate in healthcare / NVQ Level 3 in health and social care / Diploma in health and support level 3
- Positive attitude to change
- Willingness to learn
- IT skills
