The role of Sister / Charge Nurse at Barts Health NHS Trust in London involves working part-time (19 hours per week) as a vital member of the Chemotherapy & Day Care team within the Woodlands Day Unit at Whipps Cross Hospital. The position requires at least three years of relevant nursing experience at Band 5 or above, including chemotherapy administration, cannulation, and venepuncture, along with a relevant post-registration qualification. The post holder will provide comprehensive patient care, act as a professional role model and mentor, and coordinate treatment logistics, ensuring efficient delivery of care in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

Are you a highly motivated individual who would like to be part of the Chemotherapy & Day Care team at Whipps Cross?
An opportunity has arisen in the Woodlands Day Unit at Whipps Cross Hospital.
The Day unit treats patients with malignant and non-malignant haematology conditions and offer supportive treatments to a wider group of Oncology patients .
Treatments include Intravenous and Oral Systemic Anti-Cancer treatments ,Blood products ,hormone injections ,CVC line care , IV Infusions .
You will be working as part of the Multi disciplinary team and have good communication and organisational skills in order to coordinate the safe efficient delivery of care to this patient group.
You should have at least three years relevant experience at Band 5 or above. This must include experience of chemotherapy administration, cannulation and venepuncture .
You should also hold a relevant post registration qualification, for example a Chemotherapy/Oncology/Haematology Course.
Our nurses work 4x shifts per week -(4 x 9.5 hr shifts).The unit is open Monday Tuesday, closed Wednesday and open Thursday ,Friday.
This is a part time post ,2 days per week working on a Thursday and Friday.
For the right candidate we will offer support, training and education through personal development programmes and our links with the Cancer centre at St Bartholomews Hospital
To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualized, holistic patient care in conjunction with the inter-professional team.
As a proficient practitioner in SACT care, the post holder acts as a professional role model and clinical teacher. He / she will also provide effective mentorship and supervision, participating in the education and training of nursing and non-nursing staff.
He/she also takes charge of the Day Care Unit as required, liaising closely with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse with continuing responsibility. The post holder will be asked to perform the Nurse coordinator at times – coordinating all the prescriptions, blood tests and confirmations in advance, so that treatment production /dispensary occurs in a timely manner.
