The North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a full-time Assistant Psychologist (Band 5) to join the Broadfield Unit at Haywood Hospital. The role involves supporting the Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist and Clinical Psychologist in delivering psychological care to patients who have suffered neurological illnesses or injuries. Key responsibilities include contributing to the assessment and treatment of patients with significant acquired brain injuries, administering relevant assessment tools, and closely collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to enhance their understanding and management of patient challenges.
Candidates are expected to have experience working with adults facing physical, cognitive, or mental health issues, and prior experience in a multidisciplinary setting is advantageous. The post is based on a hospital ward, although agile working is expected. The post holder will receive weekly clinical supervision from a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist. There is opportunity for teaching, research, clinical audit and CPD.

- Working alongside the Consultant, Clinical Psychologist and Multi-Disciplinary Team to provide high quality psychological formulation and intervention for patients requiring specialised rehabilitation
- Providing structured interventions under the supervision of the Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist
- Working with people who have complex needs which can present/lead to challenging situations or behaviours.
- Administration and evaluation of appropriate assessment and screening tools, outcome measures and cognitive assessments
- Assistance with service development and evaluation
- Previous experience of working with adults with physical, cognitive or mental health problems is essential.
- Previous experience of working in a multidisciplinary team would be an advantage.
