The Staff Nurse role at Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in the Children’s Services department offers an exciting opportunity for motivated and compassionate paediatric nurses. With a Band 5 position, the job includes full-time hours (37.5 per week) in a dynamic, high-quality, family-centered care environment as the hospital expands its services and develops a new Children's Hospital. This is an exciting time to join our amazing team in Children’s Services as we are working on a project to expand our services and building a NEW Children’s Hospital, which will bring opportunities for career development in different areas (including specialist care). We welcome enthusiastic, caring and motivated paediatric staff nurses to join our team providing dynamic, high-quality, family-centred care to children, young people and babies.
This Band 5 role will require someone who is motivated to develop themselves in a supportive environment. You will need to be competent, caring, courageous, and compassionate, with the proven ability to work individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. We are continuously looking at new ways in which we ensure patient experience is pivotal within the care we provide and are implementing several initiatives to take this forward, led by our staff team.

Ward 4: Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU)
Ward 4 is open 24 hour/day, has 16 PAU beds that flexes capacity to meet the ever-changing needs of our children. We offer access to expert, evidence based and family centred assessment, treatment, and care. Also includes Paediatric Day Care Unit.
Paediatric Day Surgery Unit
6 beds area open Monday to Friday, specific for day surgery cases, including dental, urology ENT, T&O, and ophthalmology. Supported by ward 4 senior staff, we provide care to children all ages, from pre-op assessment, supporting children and families from admission to discharge.
Ward 5
Inpatient ward with 22 bed spaces, covering 0-16 years old, offering Medical, Surgical, Oncology and Orthopaedic experience. The Ward has dedicated High Dependency beds and offers every opportunity for the successful applicant to succeed and develop, providing the necessary training courses, which provide the skills and competencies to care for children on the high dependency pathway.
Paediatric Outpatients
Delivers specialist clinics for children that require long, and short term follow up of care.
NHS Staff Survey: With 81% affirming opportunities for skill enhancement and 69.4% attesting to accessible learning and development initiatives, nurses and midwives feel empowered to continually enhance their capabilities.
