The Job Holder Will Have To (among Others)
Work with nursing and medical teams in providing a proactive management of patients with chronic disease according to local strategies
Support the nursing team in Healthcare Assistant duties such as dressings and clinical observations
Conduct new patient and NHS health checks
Participate in the development and implementation of service/CCG guidelines and protocols.
Urinalysis and preparation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory
Measure and record the following physiological measurements in routine presentations:
blood pressure
pulse rate and rhythm
temperature
height and weight - body mass index
venepuncture
ECG
glucose tolerance test
peak flow readings
inhaler technique
spirometry
Assist with LARC fitting as required
Administer the influenza, shingles and pneumococcal vaccine under indirect supervision of a regulated professional, ensuring PSD’s are obtained and used for each patient
Essential Criteria
Have a NVQ level 1 Healthcare qualification
Previous experience as a Healthcare Assistant in primary care/secondary care is required
Prior experience in minor illness
Appropriate Venepuncture / Cannulation Training
Work productively in a high pressured environment
