The Role

We are looking to recruit a Maternity Coordinator - Clinical to join the Maternity team at University Hospital Wishaw!

The Maternity Coordinator will have responsibility for the organisation, coordination and management of ward areas, community and neonatal unit and the effective deployment of staff on a shift to shift basis.

The post holder will be involved in planning, implementing and evaluating clinical care within all patient areas of the maternity service, by acting as the clinical expert and support to the multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will ensure compliance with NHS Lanarkshire’s policy and procedures and maintaining statutory requirements in accordance with the NMC.

The successful candidate will provide managerial support to the Senior Charge Midwife/ and Practice Development Midwife, whilst developing and maintaining clinical skills in practice.

What We'll Need You To Bring

• Registered Midwife with valid NMC Registration
• Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
• Post graduate expertise within speciality / area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively and efficiently.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality / area of practice.
• Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice ensuring that the level of expertise can be utilised to deliver leadership within speciality / area of practice.
• Management qualification or equivalent gained through experience and continuous professional development
• Further education/evidence of Continuous Professional Development in area of speciality including study days/courses/post graduate qualification
• The post holder will possess excellent team-working/leadership skills and have the ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
• Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Effective time management skills
• Working knowledge of basic information technology
  
  

It Would Be Great If You Also Have

• Extensive, current midwifery/nursing experience
• Experience in taking charge of ward, planning, implementing and evaluating care throughout midwifery/neonatal caree
• Presentation skills
• Training and facilitation skills
• Ability to work at strategic level
• Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence
