The South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Principal Practitioner Psychologist or Psychological Therapist to lead an innovative project focused on implementing trauma-informed approaches (TIA) within adult acute inpatient wards. This role involves collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to enhance clinical care and staff support for individuals with a history of trauma, ensuring a supportive environment that addresses both mental health needs and anti-racist commitments. The post-holder will oversee strategy implementation, provide supervision, and engage with diverse stakeholders, including peer workers and service users, to build a trauma-informed culture across the trust's inpatient services.

The successful candidate must possess extensive experience in managing severe mental health conditions, a deep understanding of trauma-informed practices, and strong leadership skills for effective stakeholder engagement. This position is part of a centralized team providing support and governance for psychological services across the boroughs of Lambeth, Lewisham, Croydon, and Southwark, requiring travel to various inpatient settings while also offering the flexibility of office-based work at Maudsley Hospital. The role emphasises the integration of best practices in trauma care and promoting a culture of trust and inclusivity in mental health services.
