The Ward Clerk will provide essential administrative support in a busy neurosurgical oncology ward. Responsibilities include greeting and assisting patients and visitors, preparing and managing case notes for admissions, and processing data for admissions, transfers, and discharges using the Patient Administration System (PAS). Additional tasks involve organizing documentation, liaising with healthcare teams, ordering equipment, booking porter services, and handling inquiries while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection guidelines.

Main Duties:

  • Retrieve and prepare case notes for ward admissions.
  • Process patient data in real-time on the PAS system.
  • Maintain communication with various clerks and healthcare professionals to ensure smooth operations.
  • File and organize patient documentation accurately.
  • Assist with administrative duties and patient inquiries, including health insurance forms.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • GCSE or equivalent educational qualifications, with NVQ Level 3 or ECDL certificate preferred.
  • IT literate and capable of accurate data entry.
  • Previous experience in an administrative role, ideally in a healthcare setting.

Skills Required:

  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Calm and effective interpersonal skills, especially when dealing with patients and relatives.

Contract Details:

  • Permanent, full-time position with a salary range of £24,071 to £25,674 per annum.
