Job description
SACT Day services provide treatments for up to 160 patients per day. This unit treats different kind of cancer such as Breast, prostate, lungs etc. In the unit treatment administered such as systemic anti-cancer treatment (SACT) The team ensures smooth delivery of an enthusiastic nurse to support and provide the chemotherapy treatment to our patients. We are looking an enthusiastic SACT trained nurse who could join our team.

We run one of the largest early clinical trial units in Europe with over 300 trials every year. Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.

- The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the specialty.
- To be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning delivery and evaluation of direct patient care.
- To take the lead on delegated responsibilities as defined by the Senior Sister/charge nurse and Matron.
- To support the charge nurse/senior sister/matron to monitor the safety and quality of care for patients
- To co-ordinate the day to day management of the SACT unit.
- To support the SACT outreach sites across the Greater Manchester area as required
- To manage, lead and motivate Band 5, 4 and 3 staff ensuring compliance of mandatory training and appraisal requirements.
- In the absence of the Senior Sister/charge nurse/Matron to be responsible for the day-to-day management of the SACT Unit.
- To ensure a positive focussed service incorporating patients ‘feedback to maintain and improve patient care.
- To act as an effective role model promoting excellence through practice.
