NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern for this post is Monday Thursday 8.30am 4.30pm, Friday 8.30am 4pm.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Health Visitor with current practice experience to join the Children and Families Health Visiting service in East Renfrewshire Health and Social Care Partnership.
We are fully committed to the key ambition and aims of Getting It Right for Every Child (GIRFEC), to provide children and young people with the best possible start in life. The post holder will have good knowledge of The Promise and the Children and Young People’s Act 2and be expected to work in collaboration with families, partner agencies and a range of stakeholders to deliver high quality, needs led, evidence based care within a designated caseload. The post holder will be required to utilise a strengths based approach to engage families and be able to identify risks and co-ordinate plans of care for children.
The Successful Candidate Should Be
- Experienced in the areas of caseload management, child protection, working with families presenting with complex needs and health improvement work.
- Good communication and organisational skills, coupled with an ability to work within a team setting as well as independently, will be essential requirements of the post.
- A Registered Nurse with current NMC and have a qualification in Health Visiting or Public Health Nursing.
The post holder will provide leadership across professional and organisational teams, with a focus on leading audit and quality improvement and promoting and supporting development within the service.
This post is based in Eastwood Health Visiting team at Eastwood Health and Care Centre but may involve working across the local authority to include Barrhead Health Visiting team.

This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
