An exciting job opportunity has arisen to join our friendly, hard working ultrasound team at the Royal Shrewsbury hospital.
We are looking for a caring and compassionate individual with exceptional organisational and communication skills to help deliver excellent, patient centred care. As a trust, we strive to provide the best care and experience that we can to the communities that we serve.
This is a patient facing role working alongside sonographers and consultant radiologists assisting with the care of patients within the ultrasound department. Successful applicants will be expected to work with trust information systems and liaise with a wide range of staff across departments. Consideration will be given to applicants for both full and part time hours. It is essential that applicants are flexible in their working hours as we operate a 7 day service between the hours of 8am-8pm including bank holidays.
Main duties of the job
To assist Radiologists, Sonographers and nursing staff with the care of both inpatients and outpatients in the ultrasound department during a range of examinations including interventional procedures and intimate examinations.
To act as a chaperone on line with Trust policy
To care for patients attending the department aiding with movement in the examination rooms.
To use trust information systems including CRIS to record radiology episodes.
Assist Radiologists/Sonographers during interventional procedures
When required, to compile and maintain both paper and electronic records from a ultrasound procedure ensuring details are sent to the appropriate record systems.
To ensure that equipment is used correctly and any faults or concerns are reported to senior staff.
To dispose of any clinical sharps bins and clinical waste to the appropriate areas in line with trust policy.
To be responsible for complying with health and safety policy, agreed policy and procedures of the radiology department, the local rules under IRMER and the agreed policies and procedures of the Trust.
To maintain a high standard of cleanliness within the whole of the X-ray department
To order stock/monitor levels and communicate this with senior staff where necessary.
