The role of Health Care Support Worker in the Burns & Plastics unit at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde involves supporting a multi-disciplinary team in the Plastic Surgery Admission and Day Surgery Unit at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, which caters to patients requiring reconstructive surgeries due to skin cancer, breast cancer, and traumatic injuries. Candidates will work primarily Monday to Friday, with 12-hour shifts and potential night shifts, and are expected to complete necessary competencies like venepuncture and cannulation. Flexibility, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and a willingness to adapt to changing situations are essential. While prior experience in healthcare and specifically in a day unit is beneficial, it is not mandatory.
