You would join a network of Consultant Psychologists working across Children’s services, which meets weekly for peer support.
We are looking for an experienced, compassionate Consultant Psychologist to join our Children’s Community Eating Disorders multidisciplinary team. The team works with children and young people aged 5-18 who present with eating disorders, ARFID and complex presentations where disordered eating is a part of a wider set of needs.
As the Consultant Psychologist in the team, you would provide:
- - Professional leadership and supervision for all psychological professions staff in the team to ensure governance and clinical quality
- - Consultation, formulation and direct clinical work linked to complex case presentations
- - Participate as a key senior leader in the team to assist with the overall leadership and containment of the team as a whole
- - Liaison with other clinical pathways and services as appropriate
In this role we are looking for someone with extensive clinical experience of working with complex presentations in children and young people. Specific Eating Disorders experience would be an advantage but not essential, as we are looking for transferable skills around working with complexity and leadership.

You would be supervised and professionally managed by an experienced Consultant Psychologist who is also the Clinical Director for Children’s services. There is also a wider peer network of Consultant Psychologists in the Trust as a whole, with excellent opportunities for cross-specialty learning and consultation. Psychology is highly valued in the organisation with representation at Director level and on the Executive Management Board.
We have good links with both Oxford and Leicester Doctoral training courses, and there are plenty of opportunities both to host trainees on placement as well as the potential for involvement in teaching, service evaluation and research.
We take the development of our staff seriously, and would look to provide support around any development or CPD needs for this role as needed. There may also be opportunities to undertake clinical sessions in other speciality areas depending on the interests and preferences of the successful candidate.
