The successful candidate will lead the day-to-day operational running of a portfolio of departments within the Royal London Dental Hospital. The role is very busy and will include outpaitent and theatre management, management of 18-week RTT, DM& cancer pathways, working closely with senior colleagues and clinicians to deliver exemplary care for our patients.
The Royal London Dental Hospitals offers a range of specialist Level 3 dental, ophthalmology and oral and maxillofacial services to North-East London. We also are a major trauma centre running a specialist oral and maxillofacial trauma service.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Service Manager is a key management role and is responsible for the operational delivery of all aspects of the service areas. Key aims are:
- To co-ordinate the operational delivery of services within the portfolio of responsibility to ensure the safe and effective use of all resources. Specifically, to take a lead in achieving key performance targets in line with local and national agreements.
- In partnership with the Clinical Leads, Service Delivery Manager, and General Manager take operational management responsibility - with the specialty Consultants, Lead Nurses, Operational Managers and Heads of Department within specialty portfolio for the delivery of the Division’s financial and operational priorities.
- Provide timely, efficient and effective operational service management support for the specialty portfolio.
- Deputise for the Service Manager, acting with delegated authority as granted to lead on tasks and in key meetings. Support the wider directorate under the direction of the General Manager.
- Support the Clinical Lead, Consultants, Lead Nurses and Service Manager to ensure that the services are responsive, innovative and provide the highest possible clinical and performance standards.
- Have an understanding of the specialties position against all performance/quality targets. Contribute to design and implementation of mitigation plans where services are off plan,
