The Bereavement Officer at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust will serve as the primary point of contact for families following the death of patients, providing them with vital information and advice regarding death notification, funeral arrangements, and the handling of personal property. The role requires a compassionate individual with strong listening skills and the ability to exercise independent judgement while coordinating with various medical and administrative staff to ensure a seamless bereavement process in line with national guidelines. Responsibilities include managing inquiries from bereaved families, coordinating with the Mortuary team, assisting with coroner referrals and Inquest preparations, and supporting the Patient Experience team in addressing concerns and complaints.

The position emphasises teamwork, sensitivity, and effective communication with external partners, such as HM Coroners and Funeral Directors.
