Clinical Director for Dental Specialist Services with Swansea University in Port Talbot, Wales, United Kingdom
Job Summary This new position within the Health Board reflects the organisation's continued drive to locate appropriate specialist dental services closer to our communities, and to integrate services to improve patient care and access. The successful candidate will provide support and guidance to the primary care team and existing clinical leads on the development and delivery of integrated, secondary care, community, and primary care specialist dental services. The role will also involve deputising for the Dental Director when appropriate as well as a service wide role in Quality and Safety and/or professional performance and development. Main duties of the job The post holder is a key member of the PCTG Management Team, providing professional medical/dental advice, leadership, and support to ensure that the highest standard of clinical care is delivered within the Group and where specialist dental services interface with other Health Board Groups. The post holder provides leadership and direction for specialist dental services for the Group programmes to remodel care pathways to achieve better outcomes for patients and service users, with a focus on delivering care and support as close to home as possible, and making best use of specialist resources and hospital facilities. The post holder provides clinical leadership to medical/dental staff across the Health Board promoting personal, professional and service development, building effective working partnerships with individuals and organisations in the local health and social care community. The post holder supports the development and delivery of effective clinical governance systems for specialist dental services in line with SBUHB frameworks and policies. The post holder will advise on effective specialist dental workforce planning across the Group in order to provide the appropriate level and mix of skilled individuals to address the health needs of the community both now and in the future. About Us Swansea Bay University Health Board has responsibility for the health of around 390,000 people in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea areas, with a budget of around £1 billion and employing 12,500 people. We are a University Health Board working in partnership with Swansea University, Swansea School of Medicine, the School of Health Science and the Institute of Life Science. The HB has three major hospitals providing a range of services: Morriston and Singleton hospitals in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot hospital in Baglan, Port Talbot. Mental Health and learning Disabilities services are provided both in hospital settings (Cefn Coed Hospital, Swansea Caswell clinic and Taith Newydd at Glanrhyd Bridgend) and other community settings.
