Clinical Psychology is a highly valued profession within each multi-disciplinary team helping to optimise medical care by working with patients, their families and the MDT. We see children and families who are struggling with adjustment to their diagnosis, symptom/ pain management, treatment adherence, procedural fear, health anxieties and other psychosocial impact related to their gastroenterology condition. The postholder will contribute to holistic care as a valued member of the wider Multidisciplinary team through indirect ways of supporting children, young people and their families.
The postholder will work closely with the wider Multidisciplinary Team to support children, young people and their families through both direct and indirect patient care. The post holder will have opportunities to contribute to innovative ways of working, including groups and treatment pathways, as well as, develop other leadership skills i.e. teaching and training.
The postholder will be encouraged to engage with ongoing professional development opportunities with specialist departmental lecture series as well as clinical special interest groups such as in narrative therapy, ACT, medical trauma, cognitive assessment and medically unexplained symptoms and through the Institute of Child Health and GOSH Learning Academy.
