We’re looking for a skilled Hospital Services Manager to take on a key leadership role in managing the stock control, validation, and dispatch of blood and blood components to hospitals and NHSBT sites in our service area.

Job Summary
We’re looking for a skilled Hospital Services Manager to take on a key leadership role in managing the stock control, validation, and dispatch of blood and blood components to hospitals and NHSBT sites in our service area.
Main duties of the job
- Inventory and Stock Management: Ensure timely and controlled validation of blood units to maximize stock availability.
- Policy and Service Development: Align department policy, practices, and service improvements with national healthcare strategy.
- Team Leadership: Oversee recruitment, appraisals, and performance management of the Hospital Services (HS) team and manage the departmental budget.
- Collaboration: Work with Regional and National HS teams, HS Managers, and the Strategic Team to develop and support key initiatives.
- Cross-Directorate Coordination: Facilitate effective cross-department communication to ensure smooth operations across directorates.
- Deputy Responsibilities: Step in for the Regional HS Manager as needed, including acting as Duty HS Manager.
About You
Experience and Knowledge
- Proven leadership and management experience, ideally within NHSBT or a pharmaceutical setting.
- Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice, Good Laboratory Practice, and Total Quality Management.
- Skilled in handling employee relations issues such as grievances, conflicts, and disciplinaries.
- Experienced in validation projects, development work, and audits.
- Familiarity with relevant policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Qualifications and Training
- FIBMS/master’s degree,
- Equivalent experience with a commitment to obtaining a Master’s-level qualification if needed
- Demonstrate commitment to own Continued Professional Development (CPD).
